The Renewable Energy Department of the Thai Industrial Union (FTI) announced that this year's new solar power generation in Thailand is about 1200-1500 megawatts, requiring nearly 90 billion baht (about 16.326 billion yuan) of investment. The Thai government plans to expand solar power generation to 6,000 megawatts by 2036, increasing the ratio of total power generation from 4% last year to 9%.
According to a research report by the information consultancy IHS market, Thailand will become the future leader of emerging markets in terms of installed capacity, and Thailand will add 2.9 GW of PV installations in the next four years.
At present, Thailand's PV subsidy policy is mainly subsidized according to the size of the PV power plant project. The average subsidy per kWh is between RMB 1 and RMB 1.3.
In recent years, Chinese PV companies, which have been suppressed by Europe and the United States, have taken the lead in giving Thailand a positive response. As a close neighbor of trade, there are already many Chinese giant-class photovoltaic companies, such as Suntech, Trina Solar (TSL.NY), Yingli and other companies have entered. In particular, Suntech, which has been included in the company's clean energy, has extensive project experience in Thailand and currently has more than 240 megawatts of shipments in Thailand. Its brand is widely recognized by Thai customers and banks.
It is also interesting to note that as a global telecommunications giant, Huawei, it has teamed up with Yingli Green Energy, the world's second largest component manufacturer, to develop solar projects in Thailand. Fighting side by side with the two companies are Thai Bank of Thailand and Spanish integrator Solventia Solar.
In order to achieve the goal of achieving renewable energy accounts for 20% of total energy demand by 2022, the Thai government has plans to achieve the goal of 3GW solar system installation in 2021.
Taiwanese entrepreneur Jian Shiyu, who has long been deeply involved in the green energy industry in Thailand, said in an interview with an interface journalist that Thailand is currently the most active country in Southeast Asia to promote green energy.
With the further start-up and improvement of the Thai PV market, more and more PV companies will enter this market. A month ago, Southeast Asia's only largest energy exhibition “Thailand PV Exhibition†attracted more than the top 20 global companies. Enterprises from various countries and regions participated in the conference.
