It is reported that each program will be divided into three phases.
Phase 1: Use 250,000 U.S. dollars for component testing and analysis for a period of 8 months;
Phase 2: Use 1 million U.S. dollars for engineering research and development for a period of 1 year;
Phase 3: Use $2 million for model development for a period of 18 months.
Michael Gazarik, deputy administrator of the space technology department, said: “The new energy storage technology is critical to our future exploration in deep space—whether our mission is an asteroid, Mars or another planet.
