PennEngineering, a global fastening solutions provider based in Danboro, Pa., recently announced the launch of a new flat stud with an ultra-fast thread design. This new product features fast and reliable bonding capabilities and a short combination of features. It helps to complete the assembly of lighter parts, and its flat head part of the self-rivet stud can be locked into the metal sheet metal only 1mm thick. Its thread design does not affect performance after lacquer coating. This self-riveting technique is cleaner than welding and creates a more beautiful finish. In addition, it can be installed during the die casting process using PEMSERTER® internal mould technology.
Thermal insulation is the reduction of heat transfer (i.e., the transfer of thermal energy between objects of differing temperature) between objects in thermal contact or in range of radiative influence. Thermal insulation can be achieved with specially engineered methods or processes, as well as with suitable object shapes and materials.
Heat flow is an inevitable consequence of contact between objects of different temperature. Thermal insulation provides a region of insulation in which thermal conduction is reduced or thermal radiation is reflected rather than absorbed by the lower-temperature body.
The insulating capability of a material is measured as the inverse of thermal conductivity (k). Low thermal conductivity is equivalent to high insulating capability (Resistance value). In thermal engineering, other important properties of insulating materials are product density (Ï) and specific heat capacity (c).
