What is brightness
Brightness refers to the brightness of the picture, the unit is candela per square meter (cd / m2) or nits. Candela per square meter (cd / m2) or nits means the brightness of candlelight per square meter, that is, the light intensity per unit area.

How to increase screen brightness
There are currently two ways to increase the brightness. One is to increase the light transmission rate of the LCD panel; the other is to increase the brightness of the background light or increase the number of lamps. Increasing the light transmission rate of the LCD panel is also called "buffing technology". The surface of the display screen is like installing a layer of glass, which enhances the reflection of light and improves the color contrast and saturation of the screen.
Screen brightness and visual health
It should be noted that brighter products may not necessarily be better products, too bright TV screens often make people feel uncomfortable. The researchers pointed out that when the brightness of the display reaches 100cd & m2, it will cause visual fatigue. The use of "buffing technology" makes it easy for the display screen to "stab" the eyes with light, it is also easy to cause eye fatigue, and even lead to health problems such as vision loss and headaches.
Highlight is not the only pursuit
On the one hand, too high brightness is easy to cause visual fatigue, but also reduces the contrast between pure black and pure white, affecting the performance of color scale and gray scale. The survey shows that the brightness of the traditional CRT TV is about 300-600cd / m2, and practice has proved that such brightness is enough to meet the requirements of visual appreciation on a 20-35 inch screen.
Choose the right brightness products
At present, the brightness of most TVs on the market is around 450-600cd / m2, and individual ones reach 800cd / m2, 1000cd / m2 or even higher, which can meet the needs of most consumers. Choosing the right brightness has a great relationship with the distance to watch TV. The viewing distance of large-screen TVs is generally relatively large, suitable for selecting models with higher brightness, and small-screen TVs should choose products that do not have too high brightness. Generally, the ideal brightness selection can be roughly referred to this standard, that is, no more than 2200 * square of the screen height, and no less than 1800 * square of the screen height (first the screen height is converted into an international standard unit: meters).
LCD TV selection should also pay attention to the uniformity of brightness
The uniformity of brightness is also very important, but it is usually not marked in the specifications of LCD TV products. Whether the brightness is uniform or not, is closely related to the number of backlights and reflectors and the configuration method. The TV with better quality has uniform brightness and no obvious dark areas. Uneven brightness will seriously affect the appreciation of the picture. The method of determining the uniform brightness is usually only careful observation, especially when the screen has a single color. The best chance is to choose the LCD TV. Ask the receiver to adjust the screen to a single color to distinguish it.
